- What can www.film2disk.com do for me?
www.film2disk.com will scan 35 mm negatives or color slides and put them on a Picture-CD or Picture-DVD for PC browsing, editing, archiving, sharing via e-mail, cutting and pasting into word processors, and printing. If you have a PC or Mac, the possibilities are limitless.

- What is the final resolution of my pictures?
35 mm film is scanned at 4000 dots/inch (dpi) and ouput to a size of 1296 x 1947 pixels; more than a 25% increase over Kodak's Picture-CD. The picture is then saved in the TIFF file format with zero compression thus retaining the maximum image quality.
Other film types will be scanned at similar resolutions.

- What about included software?
Nearly any program can open, view, and print TIFF and JPEG image files. Word processors, Internet browsers, image editors, and utilities too numerous to mention. Many image editors are available online for download as shareware or even freeware.
See our system requirements page for more details about software.

- How many pictures can I put on one disk?
85 picture files in the TIFF format as well as those 85 files duplicated in several different sizes in the JPEG format will fit on one Picture-CD. 600 picture files in the TIFF format as well as those 600 files duplicated in several different sizes in the JPEG format will fit on one Picture-DVD.

- What about scratches and dust on my film?
The software we use for the scanning process automatically removes any remaining dust and will hide virtually all scratches. See an example.

- Is your service expensive?
Please shop around, we do. You'll find that our level of superior service combined with our super low prices give you a product with tremendous value. Some local photo labs charge as much as $2 per picture PLUS $15 per CD to convert existing processed film to disk. As an example, we can do two 36 exposure rolls for around $57- that's 72 pictures on a single Picture-CD.

- How can I see samples of your work?
You may request a FREE sample Picture-CD here. Additionally, the photos on the example page are actual Picture-CD.com images. However, in order for these files to load over your internet connection within a reasonable amount of time, these files are severely reduced in size and resolution. They are approximately 5% of their original pixel size and saved in a compressed JPEG file format.

- What is the best way to package and ship my film to you?
The safest way to package your film is to purchase clear plastic film holder sleaves from an office supply store. They are pre-punched for 3-ring binders and make organizing the photos a snap. The film holder sheets can be wrapped in bubble wrap or inserted in a heavy 3-ring binder. The US Post Office can provide FREE envelopes and boxes for US Postal Service Priority Mail. UPS can provide excellent shipping service as well for larger orders.
